As crafters
we have tendacy to hoard. Comments such as "What lovely
paper, I must save that." and "Oh that will be useful" are
commonly heard. Hoarding is great and saved treasures are usually
used to great effect, but organisation and storage can be a
real problem. Sorting your resources into colours or topics
is a good way of finding everything a home. Have a container
with all your bows and ribbons, another for flowers.
Die cuts can be themed- eg boy birthday, Christmas, Baby cards etc. With many
new craft groups and workshops becoming availble for crafters being able to take
your resources with you is an increasing issue, but segmented carry cases can
provide the solution as you can take a wide variety of materials in an organised
and compact way.
Being organised is the key to stress free crafting as it is easy to lay your
hands on your materials which makes it easier to experiment with different ideas.
I also find a cork backed board vital for displaying new ideas so I can look
at them carefully and decide if I am happy with them. Keeping backing papers
neat and flat can be a real problem, why not store them in punched plastic pockets
in a A4 binder, you can then flick through them with ease with out creasing the
other papers. Card toppers can be stored in a similar way, attatch similar themed
toppers to A4 hole punched card with blue tack, then you can just unstick them
when you want them. Again these can be stored in binders.
