Fun
With Paper
Paper is the fundamental ingredient of card making and scrapbooking.
It is so verstitle you can create stunning projects using only
this medium. Tearing, layering, weaving are all well used by
most crafters but what else can you do to create an interesting
background or focus for your projects. Here are a few techniques
for changing paper for your projects.
1. Wax Resist - Draw patterns with a white candle then brush
across the pattern with an ink wash revealing the wax pattern
2. Colour bands - use a large brush and paint waterery ink
colours straight across the paper, interest occurs where the
colours touch.
3. Colour Drop - Dampen paper then drop coloured ink from a
dropper, this creates stunning patternd
4. Aging - The most simple way of aging paper is to brush with
a coffee soloution but this will not be acid free. For an extra
special aged feel tear away the ages and rub with a dark brown
ink for that faux burned effect.
5. Crumpled - Slightly dampen your paper than crumple into
a loose ball, unfold and repeat if required, flatten the paper
with a warm iron, if desired.
6. Rubbing chalk in with cotton wool can create interesting
colour effects.
Here are only 6 suggestions, there is so much more you can
do with just paper and don't forget you can also have great
fun by making your own!!
